Demo

Let’s get started by considering the processes below;

Data

Glide uses Google Sheets as it database where your data can be stored. It also builds up the app of what you want based on the data you provided.

When building the forLoop Podcast app, i created two sheets in a worksheet where one is for the Episodes tab and the other is for the About tab and then sourced necessary data of the podcast from the forLoop podcast website to use in the app.

Each episode data are been fetched from the podcast RSS feeds and the audio are embedded into a audio component in Glide.

Layout

Glide automatically build up a user interface for your app based on the data available in the Google Sheet.

The user interface of the app can also be adjusted based on the styling / layout you desired to have and can be achieved through the Properties panel by adding, removing or tweaking components from the builder.

For the forLoop Podcast app, The components layout of each episodes are in Tiles and the thumbnail was adjusted to large for it to have a slick user interface. Also added an audio player component to play the episodes audio and then, added comments components to each episodes for users.

The Layout

Deploying Apps

Apps made with Glide are easy to preview by using the QR code or share instantly with a link which is made available within the builder.

For Android users, to preview your apps made with Glide, you will need a QR code Scanner app to scan the QR code or just copy and share your app links while iOS users can always open their phone camera to scan the QR code.

Apps can also be deployed as a Progressive Web App (PWAs) by creating a preferred short links in Glide settings and then, add the app to your smartphone home screen.
